Certification courses are also available by special request. Please contact T K Group for more information if your company is interested in having its own course.
CAOHC certification requires the successful completion of classroom and hands-on coursework of duration not to fall below 20 clock hours taught in 2 ½ days. Once certification is obtained, re-certification must be obtained every five years.
The course provides instruction in ear anatomy and physiology, the physics of sound, otoscopy, audiometric testing and evaluation (theory and practice), and employee counseling.
Also included in the program is an examination of federal and state regulations relating to noise and hearing loss, especially as defined in the Hearing Conservation Amendment 29 CFR 1910.95, from defining noise exposure to record keeping on individual employees.

**If your five-year certification period is nearing its end, do not be caught off-guard by two significant CAOHC rule changes:
1. If you hold a current CAOHC certification and wish to recertify at the conclusion of your five-year
certification period, make certain that you attend a recertification course prior to the date of your official expiration.
If for some reason you are unable to attend a recertification course prior to your expiration
date, you must contact CAOHC to obtain a certification extension. CAOHC may grant an extension
up to 60 days beyond your current expiration date. CAOHC must receive extension requests 30 days prior to your
expiration date. All extension requests are subject to the approval of the CAOHC Council. If
you show up to a recertification course with an expired certification and no CAOHC approved extension,
be prepared to take the complete 20 clock hour course again in order to maintain certification. These are
CAOHC requirements and may not be waived by the Course Director or sponsoring company.
2. If for some reason you attended a CAOHC course prior to July 1, 2004 and CAOHC did
not receive your paperwork, you may apply for retroactive certification provided it has not been
more than 5 years since your initial 20-hour course and any subsequent recertification courses.
